Wenger could manage France..

Emmanuel Petit believes manager Arsene Wenger could leave Arsenal and move on to greener pastures if the club endure another trophyless season.

The former Gunners' midfielder, who played under the Frenchman at Monaco and Arsenal, insists Wenger could walk through the exit door if his efforts remain fruitless again this year.

The last time the north London club attained silverware was in 2005 in the FA Cup, when former skipper Patrick Vieira scored the winning penalty over Manchester United after a goalless 120-minutes.

"If Arsenal do not win any trophies this season, then anger or even boredom could win over Arsene [Wenger]," Petit said, according to The Mirror.

"He knows the elements of high-level football down to the slightest detail.

"His philosophy of how the game should be played is ideal - it is his trademark."

Wenger could also be tempted to jump ship and manage France, who are looking for a replacement after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with current boss Raymond Domenech due to step down.

Wenger reportedly came in third position, behind Laurent Blanc and Didier Deschamps, in a poll reflecting the fans' choice for who should succeed Domenech.
